Eligibility For B.Ed. Entrance

Candidates with at least 50% Marks either in Bachelor's degree and/or in the Master's degree in Science/ Social Sciences/ Humanities/ Commerce/Home Science/ B.B.A/ B.C.A/ B.A.LL.B/ B.Com.LL.B/ B.Tech./BE , or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for B.Ed. Entrance Test: 2019 in the B.Ed. Colleges at Chandigarh (UT).

There shall be a relaxation of 5% marks in favour of SC/BC candidates. Candidate with less than 45% marks belonging to these categories shall not be eligible for B.Ed. Entrance Test: 2019 in the B.Ed. Colleges at Chandigarh (UT).

Subjects – Combinations in B.Ed. Course

Admission to the B.Ed. Course is subject based. The Teaching Subjects are to be selected by the candidate on the basis of the subjects studied by him/her at Bachelor's /Master's level.

Broad Categories of Subject Combinations

(a) B.Sc. (Medical): A candidate with B.Sc. (Medical) stream can choose any one subject-combination out of six which is given below:

(b) B.Sc. (Non-Medical): A candidate with B.Sc. (Non- Medical) stream can choose any one subject-combination out of nine which is given below:

(c) B.Sc. (Home Science): Can choose any one subject-combination out of two which is given below:

• Home Science- Language
• Home Science- Science

(d) Commerce Graduate (B.Com/B.B.A./ B.Com. LL.B.): Can choose any one:

• Commerce-Economics
• Commerce-Language

(e) B.C.A./B.Sc.-I.T. Graduate : Can choose any one subject-combination out of two which is given below:

• Computer Edu/Computer- Language
• Computer Edu/Computer-Math

(f) Arts Graduates (B.A.) / B.A. LL.B.: Arts graduate can choose any one subject-combination out of followings, based on the subjects which they have studied at graduate level:

* Teaching of Social Studies shall be opted by the graduates who have taken up any two of the following subjects at B.A./M.A. level:-

(i) History, (ii) Geography, (iii) Political Science, (iv) Sociology, (v) Economics, (vi) Public Administration,(vii) Philosophy, (viii) Psychology, (ix) Education, (x) Defense Studies, (xi) Religious Studies, (xii) Social Work, (xiii) Community Education.

(g) B.A. Honors (Language)

• English- Minor (Eligible & Available in college)
• Hindi- Minor (Eligible & Available in college)
• Punjabi- Minor (Eligible & Available in college)
• Sanskrit- Minor (Eligible & Available in college)
• Language (major) – Language (minor) (Eligible & Available in college)
• Candidates who have passed Shastri /Gyani / Prabhakar/Honors in languages can opt for two language combinations provided they have studied the other language for one year/one semester (not applicable in GNDU, Amritsar).

Note: In case of candidates who have done Honors in languages such as Hindi, Punjabi and English, the major subject will be language. Such candidates would be allotted minor subject by the college on the basis of other subject option/s permissible to the candidate by the respective University and the availability of the same in the respective college

Division of Seats

UT Pool Quota (60%)

60% seats out of total seats shall be filled from amongst the students who have completed their qualifying exams (Graduation with 50% marks) from colleges come under Chandigarh (UT) only as regular students. It means candidate should be graduated from colleges come under Chandigarh fall under UT pool Quota (60%).

General Pool Quota (40%)

40% seats out of total seats shall be filled from amongst the students who have passed their graduation from colleges outside Chandigarh City. It means candidates who have passed graduate from any other state except Chandigarh fall under General Pool Quota (40%).

Part A: General Awareness Test: 50 Marks

Questions will be related to various dimensions of General Awareness such as:

Part B: Teaching Potential: 50 Marks

Questions will be related to various dimensions of Teaching Potential such as:

• Knowledge of Teaching Learning Process of Educational System including non-formal and distance education.
• Audio-Visual Aids and Mass Media etc.
• Values as enshrined in the Constitution of lndia
• General Awareness of National Level Educational agencies and organization of Social, Political, Economic and Cultural Agendas.
• Aptitude for Teaching Profession; Teacher's personal characteristics and their adjustments.
• Classroom problems of learners and their solutions.
• Adjustment problems of human relations with students, colleges and administration.
• Examination, evaluation and assessment.
• Library Usage.
• School and Society.

Part C: General Mental Ability Test: 50 Marks

Questions will be designed to test reasoning with Numbers, Words and Figures involving:

• Number Series
• Classification
• Analogies
• Synonyms or opposites
• Code, De-code
• Seeing Relations
• Deductive and Inductive Reasoning
• Interpretation of Graphs & Figures
• Evaluation and Inference
• Blood Relations.

English: 50 Marks

In the language papers, questions will be related to:

• Idioms and Vocabulary
• Correction and Punctuation
• Written Comprehension

Punjabi or Hindi: 50 Marks

Those candidates who have studied Punjabi in matriculation will appear in Punjabi. Others who have not studied Punjabi in Matriculation shall have to appear in Hindi. In each of these language papers, questions will be related to:

• Idioms and Vocabulary
• Correction and Punctuation
• Written Comprehension

Preparation of Merit List

The Merit list will be prepared in following manner:

• The minimum qualifying marks in B.Ed.-CET-2019 for B.Ed. colleges at Chandigarh (UT) will be 25% for General Category students and 20% for SC/ST candidates.

• Quota-wise and Category-wise Merit lists will be prepared by the Panjab university, Chandigarh.

Verification of Documents

Verification of Documents

Candidates who have been allotted seats through online process shall report at the allotted college as per schedule mentioned. The allotted college will verify the following original documents of candidate and candidate is required to carry all original documents along with one photocopy of these documents:

• Rank of candidate as per Common Entrance Test (B.Ed.).
• Detail Marks Card of Matric (10th)
• Detail Mark Card of 10+2 
• Detail Mark Cards & Degrees of Graduation/Post Graduation
• Character Certificate (from the Institute last attended)
• Residence/Aadhar Card/Domicile Certificate.
• Reservation Category Certificate, if any.
• Affidavit regarding gap year (if any) as per university norms
• Any other relevant Certificate.
• 8 Passport size Photos
• Original Copy of Migration Certificate
